On October 1, 1986, the USPS issued a set of five stamps commemorating historic American Riverboats; one of these was the Sylvan Dell, one of five ships owned and operated by the Harlem & NY Navigation Comapny. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the Sylvan Dell stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Orlando, Fl.) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a beautiful drawing of the Sylvan Dell cruising the East River with the Brooklyn Bridge in the background. Great art, unaddressed, this cover is a collectible, historic piece of riverboat memorabilia.
Double matted in green and white, this piece will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included plus a short blurb on the Sylvan Dell***
