Eleanor Roosevelt.... On October 11, 1984, the USPS issued a stamp honoring Eleanor Roosevelt on the 100th Anniversary of her birth. Shown here is a genuine FIRST DAY COVER, an envelope with the new stamp depicting a portrait of Eleanor Roosevelt cancelled from the CITY OF ISSUE (Hyde Park, NY) on the FIRST DAY OF ISSUE (Her Birthday) captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork
on the envelope) features a portrait of Roosevelt and a smaller picture
of the United Nations building in New York. The picture is printed on silk,
the luster lending an-almost three dimensional appearance; it's
surrounded by an embossed gold border. This is one of three stamps
honoring Eleanor Roosevelt, the other two being her In Memoriam stamp
issued in 1963 and one of the fifteen stamps issued to represent the
1930's in the Celebrate the Century series.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY INCLUDED***
