Ayn Rand.... On April 22, 1999, the USPS honored one of the 20th
century's most controversial figures - author Ayn Rand. Shown here is a
genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new
stamp, featuring a portrait on Rand in an art deco style, cancelled from
the city
of issue (New
York City) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The cachet
(artwork on the envelope) shows a portrait of Rand that is printed on silk, surrounded by an embossed gold border.
