Q. What made you get into Postal Stamp Art?
A. We started in the Art/Craft business in 1979, first with a children's
product, then, ten years later with a product for women. During the ensuing
years we saw there was a noticeable lack of hand-made items with a masculine
appeal. We were already cutting our own mat, so it was a natural progression to
Stamp Art.
Q. Why Stamp Art?
A. Postal stamps cover thousands of subjects, many of interest to men: Sports,
Military, Aviation, Cars, and various Professions, just to cite a few. At first
we matted prints with stamps, but, then, by going to stamp shows, we were
introduced to an array of postal memorabilia with mass appeal.
Q. Such as?
A. The obvious answer is First Day Covers. Because we knew nothing about them −
not being philatelists (stamp collectors) − their historical value plus the
addition of great art made them a natural piece of collectible art to display on
the wall. So, we began matting them, hoping that other people would enjoy
displaying them too.
Q. What other items are there?
A. In short, Commemorative Covers, Souvenir Sheets, Proof Cards, and Collector
Panels. See our "Guide for Postal Stamp Art" page.
Q. Do you enjoy what you're doing?
A. Absolutely! For over twenty years we have watched our business grow. We
started out by putting our product into over thirty craft malls across the
country. Then, we traveled the East Coast selling Postal Stamp Art at Art/Craft
shows in malls and outdoor events. Because stamps reflect a country's history,
they are an ongoing source of information. Don't play Trivial Pursuit with us!
Q. Anything else?
A. Just know that we use only acid-free mat board, tape, and plastic sleeves.
Our envelopes are stuffed to prevent the glue-lines from bleeding through over
time. We love to create interesting combinations for a unique item you won't
find anywhere else. We pride ourselves in having the broadest range of topics
for this product anywhere in the world.
Q. So, what does the future hold?
A. With the motor home sold and the tent folded, we look forward to working at
home in our bunny slippers. New prints, new stamps, new postal memorabilia
ensure it will never get boring − only bigger and better.
